The Empire of Romantia

In the mid 1990s, a group calling itself ‘Aristasia’ or ‘The Feminine Empire’ announced itself to the world. It is the latest incarnation of a group first founded by undergraduates at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, in the late 1970s. As ‘Romantia’, it issued a number of publications, including ‘The Romantic’ and ‘The English Magazine’. Its members founded and ran the ‘Anti-Metric Society’ in the early 1990s. Romantic publications are hard to find. This website will reproduce some of them, especially the charming stories. They will surprise some current Aristasians, as they feature em – ee – en.

  1. I just happened upon this. I can see you abandoned this blog, but I hope I can entice you into resuming it and reproducing some of those wonderful publications. I used to have a couple, but I foolishly gave them to a friend who I lost touch with. Now I can't find any anywhere!
